Len Wiseman’s Atlantis Rising now has a writer. Writer-director Joby Harold is in talks to pen the screenplay for DreamWorks’ adaptation of the apocalyptic science fiction comic book. Transformers scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing along with Platinum Studios chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, who created the original Atlantis Rising five-part series. The newly independent DreamWorks hopes to have Atlantis -- envisioned as a big-budget, effects-driven sci-fi war movie in the vein of the James Cameron-directed Aliens and The Abyss -- in theaters as a summer 2011 tentpole. Harold previously wrote and directed the thriller Awake, which starred Hayden Christensen, Jessica Alba, Lena Olin and Terrence Howard. He’s also attached to write the screenplay for the zombie flick, Army of the Dead.
